As the sexiest troubadour on the folk circuit, Moorea Malatt is known as The Naked Folksinger. This L.A. County born self-proclaimed "valley girl" honed her songwriting in a hippy college town and then her particular brand of performance in the booming cabaret-burlesque scene in her chosen home of Seattle, Washington. Her goal is to merge the naughtiness, comedy and wit of cabaret theater with the stuffier, more serious folk scene she came of age in.
Moorea leads a musician’s triple life and can be seen playing an upbeat set fully clothed and bouncing joyfully on a songwriter’s coffeehouse or small theater stage and then later the same night - naked covered by her Martin at one of your city’s finest cabaret dinner theaters. As the traditional troubadour, her strumming and picking is solid, her projection and enunciation crystal clear, which is fortunate since you will not want to miss a word of wit or nuance.
You are enchanted with her sweet and innocent voice, until she grabs you by the collar with her varied and sometimes racy topics: deviant sexuality, global warming, sadomasochism, reproductive organs, hypochondria, torrid affairs, and, of course, Jesus. In an ironic twist, Moorea also writes and performs appropriate children’s music which is just as entertaining for their postmodern parents.
Eight years of experience as a touring musician, two studio albums (Love and Lack Thereof and Cut and Color) and a live album (The Naked Folksinger, LIVE) have set Moorea up for her next adventure, an acoustic album called "Quickie" which will be available online digitally late summer 2008.
